I thought that the end of the book Push was not very good and lacking some important information. The end of the book kind of just left you on
a cliffhanger and didn’t really explain much.
Basically Precious was doing better in school, and coming to appreciate
her life more than she use to. That’s
good for her and all but honestly I wanted her to do something about her
parents abusing her after all these years.
I wanted her to go to the police and tell them what has been
happening. I wanted to see Precious
either succeed greatly, or fail miserably.
Either of those things would have been better than how it ended.
When we
talked about the end of the book in class we talked about the sequel book about
her kid. Honestly who gives a shit about
her kid, the book was about Precious and Sapphire doesn’t think it’s necessary
to even include information about Precious in the next book. Sapphire should’ve at least mentioned a
tidbit in the end of Push telling the
reader, or even hinting to the reader what happens to Precious later in
life.
Overall I
though Push was a pretty decent
book. Could’ve done a lot better without
Precious’s dialogue but that’s beside the point. We kind of saw at the end of the book that
Precious’s mom realized what she did and has been doing is wrong and that she
needs to improve as a mother. I think
Precious realized her mom was trying too, so they are on a lot better terms
now. What I think happens to Precious is
that she gets along with her mom now and lets her mom take care of her kids
while she pursues her education. Maybe
eventually Precious goes on to get a decent job, who knows, that is just my
personal opinion.
